  Prayers in Restaurants....

  on bank holiday monday just gone, a dear kind older couple in the cong decided to take me and my good lady out for a slap up meal, to try to cheer us up after the recent upheaval in our life.

  somehow i ended up with the bill.. anyway, this was the local italian trattoria were we often go, and are on first names terms with the staff and quite a few of the other regulars.

  big mistake!!.

  How full of PRIDE people must be! Nothing wrong with prayer. For anyone to openly address everyone in a public restaurant and loudly say a prayer in which much attention is drawn, this person has received his reward "in full" at that time. It would be and is obvious that the intentions are/were to impress those people in the immediate area and NOT to show dignified, personal respect in giving thanks to GOD. In a sense, this person has stolen from GOD.

  how do you now understand the world... and your place in it?.

  i personally believe in evolution... and also a "higher power"... it seems more and more people are drifting away from organized religion, but they are then left searching for meaning and purpose..... going to college/university and studying a normal curriculum, one is exposed to philosophy, the socrates and platos of history, who in many ways started widespread discussion on such topics as above.

  some sort of philosophy has to be studied i believe, just so one can understand the history of man, from that point in time and how we came to christianity in the first place.. however, it is a very personal matter, as we must all find our own answers.. i believe it is natural for people to be drawn to ponderings of purpose and god, and there are many ways to seek connection to that souce.

  Why do you insist on altercations? Everything was fine until "your hard days at work" started to bother you. Now you don't want me to bring up the real thing that boils your nerves do you? You know. All about people casting pearls before swine type of thing. As you have stated, MANY, MANY people have applied that scripture to you because of your actions and behavior. Have you EVER taken a good look at WHY so MANY people have applied this particular scripture to you? Or do you think there is something wrong with the many individuals that have HAD to "tell you the truth" and apply or suggest counsel to you? Remember some years ago?

  You get very upset. Now, unlike you, I won't tell you to kiss my ass. I just think that you enjoy stirring the pot to see what develops. You really should spend more time dealing with your own "personal" demons. I won't pick on you. However, if you must, go ahead and continue to pick and stir the forum to get your desired results. I have thick skin and will put a few words to help you along in your diatribe of dribble. It will give you something to attack and help restore confidence and take your deeper thoughts away from the "real things" that eat away at you each time you close your eyes for a moment of rest or reflection.

  Lots of warm Christian Love as I know you really do care about God but are to ashamed to admit it. Your heart can be read by those that have asked for the gift and are allowed to use it by the most high.

  Have a nice day at work and please relax a little? One more thing Gumby, BE CAREFUL what you wish for.....you never really know who is listening and watching....
